Optical storage:staff you can see and it has to do with light. We store things in storage, optically. Do not ever put a CD or a DISC in microwave.CD-RAM has three parts:-front label that you can see about it,-inside the CD-RAM,-reflective medal surface.
The most delicate part is front. The CD has millions of pits. The laser shines on bimary code and it sees pits and it does not. There are 5 billions of little pits on a disc. Do not scratch the disc or CD, it will be damaged. The worst scratches are side ways and arounds. These ones damage the disc more. The disc motor is spining, the laser goes up and down and reads the disc. A hard drive is not optical. A floppy disc is storage. It has 1.5 bytes. When you open inside a floppy disc,be careful about your eyes. Inside it as you could see, it is made of medal and plastic. It works with electrocity and magnisium. We should not put floppy anywhere otherwise it will be damaged and will not work properly. A hard drive disc is hard. A floppy disc is soft. Hard drive has billions of little pits. It is storage and bimary.

All the things in the computer is attached to motherboard. The main thing in computer is the motherboard. The chips in CPU has a gold square in back of it and it is cold if you touch it because when it is working it will get warm so it will not get warm alot. In motherboard there is a switch that the keyboard is connected to it. Bios chips puts up the system. This tells the computer what to do. PCI is a kind of connecter to motherboard. PCI is attached to the motherboard. Chipset is to control motherboard. Most of the things you buy, it will attach by a PCI to computer. You can put and take information from RAM. Whenever there is more RAM, there will be more information. The size and speed of RAM is more important to look when buying it. A hard drive is like a storage but memory is where you need the information from it. That is the difference between them. When the computer is off windows is in hard drive. We need to look for the model of CPU first. The two kinds of CPU are INTEL and AMD. If we want to buy one we must look for the speed. The more electrocity you have in it with more speed your work will be done. We should look and see how much should the speed of processer be, then we choose to buy INTEL or AMD. If in computer one thing is slow and does not work the computer will get slow and will not work, too. The standard size of megabit is. Network connecter wire is attached to back of the computer, without this the internet does not work. ID is connected to motherboard, too.

Computer understands colour and numbers and alphabets by bimary code. Computers have two electrocity. They are on and off. If the computer is working with electrocity it means it knows only off and on (yes and no). Everytime we had more switches, we have more possibilities. Every switch will not do only one job or work, it has alot of meanings. Everything computer understands is a bimary. In bimary we have only one (1) and zero (0). For example if we need to write three (3), we go on two (2) and put one because we only need one two there and in one (1) we put one , so two plus one is equal to three (2+1=3). This is how a computer works and understands everything. Every piece of information is a bit. A bit will equal to A (switch A in keyboard), it is bimary code. Eight bits is byte. A CD-ROM has 700 megabits.

We can find two kinds of monitors:CRT and LCD.
CRT:means cathode ray tube like the computers that we have in my school library.
LCD:stands for liquid crystal display like labtobs and flat monitors.
The difference between them are alot but CRT is more expensive and powerful and you can use it for a long time and it wont be slow or tired but LCD is cheaper but with a nice design than CRT.
All monitors are made up of green, blue and red colours.
Also when we want to see how many inches are the monitors, it should be from one corner to another corner 19 inches. But the CRT monitors with plastic , from beginning of the corner to another is 19 inches but without plastic and only the glass should be 17 inches long.

Perferal:everything attached to computer is perferal.
We have two kinds of perferals:output perferal, input perferals.
Output perferal:the things the computer gives out for us like speaker and printer and etc.
Input perferal:the things we do and it goes to computer like keyboard and mouse and etc.
In 1945 the first computer was invented.
A computer is a device you can put and take out information from it.

HOW CD BURN WORKS
An external writable CD drive, also called a CD burner: With this type of drive, you can take music or data files from your computer and make your own CDs.
CD burners marked by a cultural shift. The technology made it sutaible for the average person to gather songs and produce their own CDs. All the sudden music-mix makers hand their hands on the made of production everywhere.
Inside the CD player there is a little bit of computer technology involved about the data into understanding data blocks and sending to DAC or to the computer. DAC is "digital to analog converter."
The easy job of the CD player is to study the laser on the track of bumps. The laser beam passes through the flaxible layer, reflects off the aluminum layer and hits an opto-electronic device that detects change in light. The bumps reflect light differently than the "lands" (the rest of the aluminum layer). The opto-electronic device detects the change in reflectivity. The electonics in the drive interpret the change in reflectivility in order to read the bits that make up the bytes.
Keeping the laser beam centered on the data track is the hardest part. This centering is the job of the tracking system. The tracking system, as it plays the CD, has to continually move the laser outward. As the laser moves outward from the center of the disc, the bumps move past the laser faster --- this happens because the linear, or tangential, speed of the bumps is the same radius times the speed at which the disc is revolving (rpm). Therefore, as the laser moves outward, the spindle motor must slow the speed of the CD. That way, the bumps travel past the laser at a constant speed, and the data comes off the disc at a constant rate.
The CD player spins the disc while moving the laser assembly outward from the middle. To keep the laser scanning the data track at a constant speed, the player must slow the disc as the assembly moves outward.
The CD player has the job of finding and reading the data that are as bumps on the CD. Considering how small the bumps are, the CD player is an exceptionally precise piece of equipment. The drive consists of three fundamental components.

Computer has two parts: hadrware and software.
Hardware: means the things that we can touch and feel like monitor, mouse, speakers and etc.

Software:means the things that we can not touch and they are in the computer like programs.

Also in the first lesson we learned how to create and access blogs. A blog is a tool that you use for the purpose of posting something and allowing everyone on the intrenet to view it. Also someone can add comments about the information you post.

In the first lesson of Mr.Case's class we learned how to use email. we learned how to attach, forward, send and the use of CC and BCC. Also we learned that if we write a email but we are not sure if we will add something later on, we save it as draft. Therefore later on we can add what we want to it.

CC: means carbon copy. This is used when u want to send a copy of a message that you sent to someone else.

BCC: stands for blind carbon copy. This is the exact same thing as CC except that when you send this to another person, the main person will not know that you send the same copy to another person.
